When you are banned by administrator, there is always a reason why they did it. I have seen an administrator banning people from the server because of insulting others. Which I think it’s quite harsh since you can’t determine if the player is joking or not.

Or perhaps this is just a policy in your server so all jokes will be ban-able?
When we read the rules, we can’t really determine if it’s really serious or not. It’s like an old school teacher that does not joke at all even when you do something funny. That is why I think it’s quite unfair to the players since they don’t know where the line is.

In my opinion, if a certain behavior from a player causes another player to be insulted or hurt in any way then that action should always lead to a ban no matter how harsh it will be. If the server rules are very strict, then it’s understandable that they will be stricter to other players.
However, I think the administrator should always consider the context of what happened between the two parties involved first before making a decision so they can understand if its really offensive or just plain fun. If it’s just a joke then that should remain to be just a joke but if it’s really serious then the person involved should be banned. I think its difficult to understand what is offensive or not if the person who will judge is not the same person who experienced it, so in cases like this, I think a group of administrators should discuss it first before executing the punishment. Last night while i was playing on a server, a player suddenly called me a loser and got mad at me for being noob or something else. I just simply ignored him because I was expecting that he’s just joking.
But he logged off and came back again to continue insulting me . I admit it got me mad so I told him that I’m going to report his account in the forum. As expected, he got even more angry and told me that if I dare report him then he’s gonna report my account too.
